Why I aspire to be like a dog
Hugo, My Dog

In this post, I will share with you why I aspire to be like a dog. I will share my dog’s influence on my attitude towards goals / results / accomplishments.

Since we got Hugo in May 2016, I have learnt a great deal from him.

He has contributed immensely in my life over the past few years and continues to do so.

Two of my previous posts have touched upon his contribution / influence in my life. I invite you to read them if you haven’t yet

  1. A conversation with my dog that changed my life forever!
  2. What inspired me to turn Vegan

I, for the past decade at least, have been ambitious. I have articulated the “vision” for my life; Where I would like to be in or how I would want my life to look like in 10 years. And I’m constantly taking actions inside of that.

One thing I have noticed about dogs is that Dogs are goal-getters (just like all other animals). They are result oriented. Something clicks inside them and then they just set out to accomplish what’s in their heads. It could be they want to eat food, communicate something, go for a walk, etc. It could be anything! They just think it, take action for it and make it happen. No excuses!!

I assume that they don’t think, “oh I don’t feel like it today” or “the weather is not right; its too sunny or it’s raining right now, I’ll go later.”

If they’re hungry they’ll make sure they get their food.

If they want to go for a walk, they will! If you don’t take them, they’ll do their business at your home. They don’t care. They will do what needs to be done.

That’s the kind of attitude I aspire to play at on a daily basis. Set goals/targets. Put my head down and run towards them.

Set the goal. Get the goal! — No excuses!

With this kind of intent and focus, I’m sure there is nothing that we won’t be able to achieve.

Imagine if we all could work like that? Wouldn’t it be amazing? I think it would ?

Thank you for reading. I wish you a wonderful day! x
